Direct Primary Care (DPC) Practice Expands into Petoskey, Michigan

Table Health, a Direct Primary Care (DPC) practice in Traverse City, is expanding its membership based healthcare model, with plans to open a second location in Petoskey, Michigan later this winter.

DPC is an innovative model of primary care that improves access to high quality healthcare with a simple, affordable monthly membership fee.

Table Health launched the first DPC practice in the region almost three years ago with a mission to Redefine Healthcare, knowing there was a better way to deliver true healthcare – rooted in Transparency, Authenticity, & Value.

“DPC absolutely is redefining health care,” said Jill Butryn, MD, president and co-founder of Table Health, “It’s really about strong patient-provider, relationship-based primary care that I believe can offer a better way to pursue healing in an open-minded and respectful manner, unencumbered by barriers inherent in the current model of healthcare delivery.”

With DPC, local (and seasonal) residents can access primary care services by paying a low monthly fee. There are no co-pays, no deductibles, no waiting to get in to see your doctor. Because DPC practices don’t participate with insurance, the cost of providing care is usually significantly less. Many of the tasks in DPC practices are streamlined and patients experience greater access to their physician. In most cases, individuals and families who choose DPC pay less out of pocket for outpatient care, and satisfaction is higher.

The DPC model offers opportunities for patients and doctors to work more closely together.

“It offers 21st century convenience and access with old school family doctor values,” shared Vince WinklerPrins, MD, FAAFP,  Table Health Physician for the Petoskey location. “By removing insurance billing from our relationship and instead billing low monthly subscription fees we highlight access, time, accountability and cost transparency. No copays!”

Table Health expanded its existing Functional Medicine and Wellness health services to include DPC in spring 2020 just as COVID-19 hit.  Overall practice membership/patients increased 40% in the first year during an on-going pandemic, confirming the demand for more accessible, affordable, and personalized care.

Nearly two years later, Table Health continues to champion this movement by offering cost-effective, transparent and relationship-based healthcare.

“Our membership is steadily increasing, with overall growth increasing 168% after adding DPC,” said Christine Straley, Table Health Operations Manager.  “Adding to our team of DPC providers and expanding geographically into Emmet County all while continuing to reduce emergency room use by 40% or more via accessible, preventative care is our response to this demand.”

For those who are growing more concerned about the cost of healthcare for themselves or their families while experiencing significant declines in value and satisfaction, DPC can be a surprisingly affordable option. With recent average costs of individual health insurance premiums at $440 for an individual and $1,168 for a family, not even including the extra out of pocket costs, which average $4,328/individual and $8,352/families, plus co-pays, a Table Health DPC membership could save someone a lot of money.
